Safety4Good is a charitable organisation founded in 2018 by Simon Bliss, Managing Director of Principal People.
The purpose of Safety4Good is to raise the positive profile of Health and Safety as an industry as well as for all of the professionals who work within it. Far too often do we as recruiters see the public and the media portray the profession negatively, hindering the exposed crucial value that health and safety adds to every company. We are passionate about shining the light upon the individuals who ensure that us, our friends and families, can work and live in a safe environment.
Principal People have supported Safety4Good from its developmental stages from being just an idea right through to its official stage at present. We are constantly raising awareness through spreading the message across the market as well as raising money through team fundraisers.
The team are passionate about supporting Safety4Good and the wide portfolio of charities it is helping as we truly want to make a difference within the profession.
In April, Simon will be setting off upon his monumental journey from Lands End to John O'Groats.
Simon will start his journey on Sunday 7th April and he, alongside his 'posse', will be travelling via monkey bike and moped. As you can imagine over the vast countrywide route, he will be faced with all sorts of weather conditions, exceptionally beautiful scenery and i'm sure he will have many weird and wonderful stories to tell from the experience.
This gruelling journey is in aid of raising money for a portfolio of charities which include Great Ormond Street, MIND, and the Grenfell Tower via (Heads Together).
After cycling a jaw-dropping 900 miles, the Principal People team completed the virtual journey from Lands End to John O'Groats.
Our in house cycling motive was in aid of supporting the real deal being completed by Simon in April on his Moped.
The team delivered an excellent performance and are so happy to have completed the challenge within the expected time.
The team have raised almost £500 from this challenge and are hugely thankful to everyone who got behind us and supported them in raising money for Safety4Good. Watch our video to find out about why they are supporting Safety4Good by clicking here
In 2017, Principal People took on the challenge of the Tough Mudder, which is an incredibly physically demanding and messy assault course. The purpose behind the team event was to raise money for Tara's son, Oscar, who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which is a regressive nueromuscular disease.
In 2019, the team are taking part again to raise money for Great Ormand Street Hospital through Safety4Good. Due to Great Ormond Street and the incredible work they do, Oscar along with many other children across the world, has had access to the first drug of its kind as a treatment for the symptoms of SMA.
In 2018, we dedicated two working days to clean up the beaches of West Wittering.
Together, the team filled up bag upon bag of rubbish which had been discarded on the beaches. Had the rubbish not been collected, it would have been washed into the water adding to the growing issue of ocean pollution.
The team hope to have spread the message of the importance of proper waste disposal as well as encouraging more people to get involved with beach clean ups. Making a difference doesn't have to cost a lot of money!

Safety4Good asks for donations towards the industry through two methods - monetary donations and time donations. Safety4Good gives you the option to choose and support a number of charities from their portfolio which include Great Ormand Street Hospital, Suzy lamplugh Trust, MIND, Shooting Star Chase, Heads Together, Women's Aid and more. Alternatively, they ask that you donate time or provide them with an account of a time where you have helped an organisation for them to record. Another service that Safety4Good offers is charity matching - if you are looking to donate your time to a local charity but you are unsure of what is in your area, let S4G know and they will do all of the hard work for you.
