Interim Health & Safety Advisors (x2)
Day Rate: £300-350 per day (Inside IR35)
Sector: Local Government
Location: Bedfordshire (Hybrid – 2–3 days office, 2–3 days home or site travel)
Interviews: Taking place next week
Qualification Required: NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)

Role 1: Operational Health & Safety Advisor
In this position, you’ll be the go-to expert for day-to-day health and safety management across the council’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on H&S support across a range of operational teams
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits
  • Advise managers on risk controls, safe working practices, and compliance
  • Support incident investigations and corrective action planning
  • Help drive a positive H&S culture across the organisation


Ideal Candidate
  • Strong operational H&S background, ideally within public sector / local gov / care / education or complex settings
  • Confident communicator who can partner with services at all levels
  • Practical, solutions-focused mindset


Role 2: Health & Safety Advisor – Asbestos Improvements
This post centres around supporting the authority’s asbestos management improvements — a critical piece of work requiring focus, diligence, and a steady hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the review, improvement, and implementation of asbestos management procedures
  • Work closely with compliance, estates, and external contractors
  • Assist with asbestos surveys, data quality, and documentation
  • Provide practical, compliant advice aligned to relevant regulations
  • Help embed safe systems of work across affected services

Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in asbestos management or compliance within property-based environments
  • Strong understanding of legislative requirements in terms of asbestos
  • Able to turn technical detail into clear, actionable guidance
