Environment and Sustainability Manager - £40k-£50k plus discretionary bonus, car or £5k car allowance, private pension – based near Derby

Principal People are delighted to offer an exceptional opportunity for an Environment or Sustainability professional seeking a progressive opportunity with a Principal Contractor across rail and telecommunications. With the chance to work on several high-profile projects in the UK, this is an opportunity for an Environment and Sustainability Manager to make an impact within the current team and support the growth of this market leader.

Following the success of winning new contracts, they are looking to expand their team and as a result have a requirement for an Environment and Sustainability Manager who will report directly into the Head of Environment and Sustainability. Two Environment and Sustainability Advisors will be reporting into this role and supporting across the projects. This is a mix of home based and site based with sites predominantly in the Midlands.

The successful Environment and Sustainability Manager will have responsibilities including the following:   

  • Ensuring sustainability and environmental compliance
  • Developing innovative ideas around social engagement, environment and sustainability
  • Leading a team of two Environment and Sustainability Advisors
  • Liaising with Regulatory Bodies e.g. Local authorities and the Environment Agency
  • Helping to obtain environmental consents and permits
  • Providing environmental advice and guidance to the wider site and HSEQ team
  • Implementing and monitoring the environmental management system
  • Conducting site inspections and audits both internally and for the wider supply chain

The successful Environment and Sustainability Manager will:

  • Experience within Infrastructure, Construction, Highways or a similar sector
  • Degree level in an environmental discipline (or equivalent)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Full UK driving licence

In return the successful Environment and Sustainability Manager will receive:   

  • A basic salary of up to £50,000 per annum
