Principal People are working on behalf of a global business with an operational site based near Whitehaven, Cumbria. They are looking for an Environmental specialist to spearhead their environmental permitting programs.

This is a very operational and hands on position with the aim to improve the standards and ensure compliance across the whole business.

Reporting directly to the Head of Department, you will have the opportunity to work with a range of different stakeholders and develop relationships across the business.  

Environmental Permitting Manager

The minimum requirements are:

  • Experience within an Environmentally focussed role  
  • Experience working with permits and the permitting process  

The key duties include:

  • Managing the process of applying for new environmental permits as well as maintaining current permits
  • Working with regulators such as the Environment Agency and local authorities.
  • Communicating permit requirements to relevant operating units within the company
  • Supporting the environment compliance team and the company in notifying regulators of any non-compliances with permit conditions
  • Maintaining an electronic repository of environmental permits using internal filling systems
  • Co-ordinating the payment of permit application and subsistence fees
  • Keeping up to date with development and changes in environmental permitting legislation
  • Assisting with responses on the company’s behalf to public consultations on relevant proposed environmental legislation
