Senior Health and Safety Manager - Up to £55,000 + £4,500 car allowance + 15% bonus + further benefits package - Home based with multi-site travel - *Rare progression and development opportunity*

Principal People are delighted to have been exclusively retained by a leading building materials retail and distribution company to secure a passionate Senior Health and Safety Manager. This role will be joining their expanding group and leading a subsidiary company of this international and household name group company.

This newly created opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Senior Health and Safety Manager who is looking to take the next step into a 'Head of' role to support the business leadership team on their safety journey and continuous improvements with HSE performance. Reporting to the Group HSE and Fleet Director, as the successful Senior Health and Safety Manager you will benefit from working with the senior leadership team to continually develop a positive safety culture.   

Operating from a home-based capacity, with some travel to the head office in Northampton and other UK sites, this is an excellent chance to work for a rapidly expanding business who are dedicated to continuous improvement with their safety and well-being standards. As the Senior Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Driving and steering the direction of HSE matters within the £400m turnover business
  • Working with the wider group to interpret initiatives, collaborate in relation to best practice, and implement this within your business
  • Lead HSE within the subsidiary business, working as part of a senior leadership team to drive HSE performance
  • Attending board meetings and interpreting group initiatives and priorities to implement within the subsidiary business
  • Supporting the wider business leaders in deploying and implementing new HSE initiatives and priorities
  • Continuously improving health, safety and environmental management systems

The successful Senior Health and Safety Manager will:

  • Hold NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Health and Safety Qualification is ideal but candidates holding a NEBOSH General Certificate with the right soft skills and working experience would be considered
  • Ideally be a Graduate or Chartered Member of IOSH
  • Preferably have working experience of managing HSE within a large, complex, mulit-site business
  • Be a people focused individual who is passionate about changing cultures and behaviours
  • Have the ability to think strategically when necessary and communicate with senior leadership and board members, but with a proactive willingness to operationally manage HSE matters

In return, the successful Senior Health and Safety Manager will receive:

  • Up to £55,000 basic salary
  • 15% bonus
