Health and Safety Manager – Sheffield - £40,000

Social Housing Recruitment are working with a residential landlord bases out of the Sheffield area to help increase the safety resource to support the current Head of Safety and wider team.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual who is seeking a role within an organisation who take safety seriously and have a strong depth of safety competency within its operational teams with area managers being enrolled on the NEBOSH General Certificate as an example.

As the Health and Safety Manager you will be given flexible working options spread across office work, home working and site visits when required. The successful candidate will have a diverse portfolio of sites under their remit with support from a compliance specialist to assist in carrying out the highest level service and readying the organisation for the upcoming changes in building safety.


As the Health and Safety Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the organisation with the implementation of ISO45001, accreditation process and ongoing maintenance of the safety management system
  • Maintaining the positive safety culture across the organisation through a risk based and proactive approach to safety that facilitates operational success.
  • Support the Head of Health and Safety in the effective safety management and implementation of appropriate building safety programmes for the organisation’s portfolio of high risk buildings.
  • Work collaboratively across internal and external teams to ensure compliance requirements are being controlled, documented, and maintained in accordance with regulations and guidelines


The ideal Health and Safety Manager will have:

  • A NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum and will be keen to work towards a diploma level qualification with the aim of achieving Chartered status in the future (CMIOSH)
  • Be a member of Technical Member of IOSH (TechIOSH)
  • Experience carrying out both strategic and operational Health and Safety tasks within a multidiscipline organisation in an autonomous capacity across multiple property locations
  • An eagerness to tackle the challenges currently faced by the residential sector in management of high-risk residential buildings

In return, the successful Health and Safety Manager will be offered a salary of up to £40,000, 25 days leave rising to 28 with service (bank holidays in addition to this), enhanced company pension scheme, death in service benefit and the ability to work for an employer that provides a real investment in its staff across all levels and disciplines.
