Housing Officer (Rental Income) - £25K – £30K

Social Housing Recruitment have exclusively partnered with an up-and-coming organisation for a Housing Officer. The organisation we are partnered with a social landlord, providing affordable homes for those who prefer to rent, or can't afford to rent or buy in the private sector.

The business is seeking someone to provide front-line rental income services and advice to existing and potential tenants, or their representatives. As part of a Housing Management team they will be responsible for providing a responsive and pro-active service to residents in general needs, supported and sheltered housing.

The Housing Officer’s core responsibilities will include providing high quality, focused housing, and tenancy services effectively, consistently, pro-actively and cost effectively, including:

  • Be responsible for the collection and management of rental income against set targets and procedures.
  • Handle enquiries from tenants, keeping them informed at all times of progress in relation to their accounts and queries.
  • Be aware of current legislation relating to housing and Welfare Reform, and how access to welfare benefits may affect ability to pay rent.
  • Identify households in need of specialist support and work collaboratively with the Welfare Benefit, Tenancy Support services or wider agencies to help tenants to sustain their tenancy.
  • Take the appropriate legal action in relation to cases of arrears.
  • Attending court and evictions as necessary.
  • Deliver against the association’s financial inclusion activities, including supporting access to digital training and routes into employment.
  • Represent the organisation at meetings with residents, stakeholders and other agencies as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Two years’ experience in housing management, rental income recovery or similar services (including legal experience).
  • Experience of managing casework.
  • The ability to create good relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Well versed in housing and welfare benefit issues.
  • Ability to work to performance targets and monitor own performance.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right Housing Officer to secure a role in an organisation that is rapidly expanding and there is room the right individual to grow.

This is an urgent requirement, and we have interview availability over the next two weeks.
