UK Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager

Principal People are delighted to exclusively present an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic behavioural focussed UK Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager to join a global organisation, with a UK head office near Hull.  With a UK wide focus and reporting into the Head of Sustainability, the UK HSEQ Manager will have responsibility for 8 varied UK sites, within the manufacturing and engineering sector.   

The successful UK Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager will benefit from working with an engaged and supportive senior management team, who are genuinely committed and bought into health and safety.   Working closely with the Operations Director, you will engage across a variety of high-risk UK sites, driving the continual improvement of culture across the company, with a strong focus on behavioural based safety. 

With a flexible mix of home, office and site based working, this is an excellent opportunity to work for an established market leader, as they continue on their health and safety journey supporting both operational managers and key stakeholders within the business.

As the UK Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Further increasing accountability and responsibility for Health and Safety across the UK and Ireland
  • Supporting the wider business leaders in implementing new Health and Safety initiatives and priorities
  • Managing and leading Health and Safety team to ensure thorough effectiveness and success related to Health and Safety performance  
  • Creating new policies and procedures, ensuring these are truly embedded at all levels across the UK and Ireland
  • Continuously improving Health and Safety management systems and maintaining accreditations  

The successful UK Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager will:

  • Hold the NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
  • Have a proven track record within a high risk, multi-site organisation i.e. Manufacturing, Engineering or similar
  • Be an individual with a natural flair for engaging with and influencing a variety of key stakeholders and operational staff across a wide portfolio
  • Have a mix of strategic vision, but with the desire to remain operationally involved possessing a “rolling sleeves up as required” mentality
  • Be experienced in developing and implementing behavioural and cultural change programmes
  • Be a passionate safety professional, with genuine care and people focus

In return, the successful UK Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager will be offered between £55-65,000 plus £5k car allowance, up to 8% employee contribution pension, private medical cover, 3 x salary Life Assurance and 25 days AL, plus BH’s (increasing with length of service).
