Health and Safety Policy Officer 

Salary: £13,528 to £14,000 per annum (£33,820 to £35,000 per annum FTE)

Hours: 2 days per week

St Paul’s Cathedral are seeking to recruit for a Health and Safety Officer, a newly created part-time role within the works department. Alongside Safeguarding, the Wellbeing and Health and Safety of all staff, volunteers and visitors at the Cathedral is of paramount concern to the governing body, Chapter. The breadth of work that needs to be undertaken to maintain a heritage building, from stone masons to electricians, and the need to be accessible to over 1,500,000 visitors a year, means that there is a constant need to be vigilant. As Health and Safety lead, the Clerk of the Works is responsible for an increasingly large set of policies and procedures. This new role is specifically designed to provide him with the support and reassurance that all policies and procedures represent best practise, and that the Cathedral is a safe place for the whole community. This role will work alongside existing staff to understand these challenges and ensure polices are robust, self-explanatory and embedded.  

We are looking for someone NEBOSH qualified with demonstrable, current and relevant knowledge of health and safety policy. You will have proven experience of developing and implementing effective health and safety policies and procedures and risk management in similar contexts, with strong IT skills and experience of formal training delivery.
