Head of Building Safety Projects

Are you a proven leader ready to make a lasting impact in the fire and building safety space?

Our client is looking for a strategic and forward-thinking Head of Building Safety Projects to take ownership of a vital programme of investigations and remedial works across a diverse high-rise residential portfolio.

You’ll be joining a truly exceptional team, one we know well here at Principal People, having placed several talented individuals into this organisation, including within the building safety function itself. We’ve seen first-hand how this company empowers its people, offering both career-defining opportunities and an outstanding work-life balance.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the operational strategy and delivery of building safety initiatives across a complex residential portfolio.
  • Commission and manage in-depth investigations including building pathology, fire engineering, and design assessments.
  • Oversee all remedial works arising from these investigations, including interim fire safety measures where required.
  • Take full accountability for a £10m+ budget, ensuring value for money, strong contractor performance, and financial control.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, embedding a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring:
  • A professional qualification or equivalent experience in the commercial, construction, or property sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex building investigations and delivering remedial works in live residential environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and Fire Safety legislation.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and manage high-value programmes effectively.
Why This Role?
  • Real Impact – Your work will directly contribute to safer homes and stronger communities.
  • Brilliant People – Join a well-regarded, collaborative team making meaningful strides in building safety.
  • Career Growth – Be part of an organisation that supports professional development and internal progression.
  • Balance & Flexibility – Thrive in an environment that values employee wellbeing as much as performance.
If you’re ready to lead, influence, and elevate standards in building safety, we’d love to hear from you.
