The Opportunity
As the on-site SHE subject matter expert, you’ll take the lead on developing and embedding a strong safety culture while ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, coaching and influencing stakeholders at all levels to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of the site’s SHE strategy, setting clear objectives and driving a culture of safety and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant H&S and environmental legislation and standards, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Carry out audits, inspections, and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and supporting teams in implementing practical solutions.
- Deliver engaging and informative training to build SHE capability across the site.
- Support incident investigations and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Liaise with external regulators and bodies to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Oversee occupational health and hygiene monitoring to support employee wellbeing.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a SHE role within a fast-paced, industrial or manufacturing environment.
- NEBOSH General Certificate and Environmental Management qualification (e.g. IEMA).
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to deliver effective training.
- Full UK driving licence.
