We are pleased to be working with a reputable education provider in Portsmouth to recruit a new Health and Safety Manager to the business. This is a part-time position working 20-25 hours a week with flexible hours either annually or in term time. Reporting directly to the Bursar, this person will lead on promoting a positive Health and Safety culture across the school community through the managing of compliance and the building of positive relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing advice to the school community on all matters relating to Health and Safety
- Reviewing and developing Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure legislative compliance
- Conducting risk assessments to identify and mitigate risks, including DSE assessments, PEEPs, and public health incidents
- Identifying Health and Safety training requirements and carrying out training where suitable
- Carrying out regular inspections around school sites and provide guidance on areas for improvement
- Overseeing the school’s accident book and investigating all incidents and near-misses
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level 3 qualification
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels from teachers to governors
- Experience in education or the public sector is desirable but not essential
- A proactive approach to leading Health and Safety and the ability to manage safety within the school
